About Tina Beene LLC
For two decades I have specialized in serving teachers who serve multilingual learners. The strategies and approaches I share with them are based in how the brain learns and reflective of the current reality of the educational landscape. I'm a nationally recognized speaker and author of the Teaching to ELLs series. I wrote Teaching Social Studies to ELLs and am the co-author of Teaching Science to ELs with Dr. Stephen Fleenor and Teaching Math to ELs with Adrian Mendoza.
My educational career began as an elementary bilingual teacher in North Texas before serving as an instructional specialist, summer program administrator, curriculum writer, and multilingual program coordinator. My rural upbringing coupled with twenty years of urban work experience allows me to connect with audiences across the country for professional development in all settings, collaborative coaching sessions, curriculum writing, and program evaluations centered around best practices for multilingual students.
I have a strong background in elementary education but particularly enjoy working with secondary teachers, both content and specialized, to make the classroom a welcoming place where all students can experience success. At the end of almost every PD, at least one teacher comes up and tells me I should consider a career in stand-up comedy. (Humor is a big part of my work but I'm not interested in quitting my day job.)
In terms of credentials, I completed a BA in International Studies and Spanish with a concentration in Latin American economics at Texas A&M before obtaining a Master’s in Education with Reading Specialist certification from Texas Wesleyan.
